Anna Tedestam – describes her artistry with the words “I work through sculpture and painting in the space between abstraction and depicting where the starting point is a feeling that is translated through symbolism. There is front and back facing each other, inside and outside, inviting and closing out. In the details, there are recurring doors, beds, shoes, hearts, holes and windows that speak of being on or off. In the material I look for strength and fragility, freedom and shackles and a place for me and the clay to both hold up and burst. It is about acceptance, about shaping and pressing, but also allowing change. The hand’s presence is the core along with voice of the idea.”
