Emma Åvall – says: In my work, I explore painting’s capacity to convey life, movement, and presence within the confines of a still, two-dimensional surface. I am particularly interested in the liminal space between the flat and the spatial – between illusion and substance – where the image seems to yearn to expand beyond its own form and inhabit the room. In this way, I approach time not as a frozen moment, but as something ongoing; the painting is endowed with its own temporality, where movement and change emerge in the encounter with the viewer.
