Emma Hasselblad – is a textile artist whose work blurs the line between fantasy and reality, through large-scale, dreamlike knitted flowers and other figures. “I knit because in knitting there is an opportunity to investigate shapes, silhouettes, different textures, colors, and color combinations. In this way, I explore the possibilities of knitting as such: the flexible, movable material that the knitted fabric allows.” Her flowers are knitted in a blend of wool, cotton, and polyester that creates a fluffy look. She explores knitting in relation to the body, architecture, history, and knitting traditions.
