Filippa Nilsson Kallhed – says: I work with sculpture that takes its starting point in existing objects in my immediate vicinity such as food items from my kitchen, an old garment or my own body. Sometimes I use the things just as they are, but most of the time I cast them and transform them into a different material. It allows me to preserve and transform things into something else. They are my building blocks that I bring together in a direct and playful process. I can explore and distort self-perceived and made-up situations, and the objects become new narratives, forms and bodies. I am interested in combinations that may seem absurd, but when put together feels completely logical. Playfulness is very important – the feeling that made me want to become an artist.
